The Ministry of Water, Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Environment will begin this year the remodeling of the treatment plants of Lorca and Ulea so that they can accommodate organic waste, which will allow the implementation of the fifth collection container in the streets of the municipalities of the Region of Murcia.
A project detailed by the counselor after holding a meeting a few days ago with the CROEM government team and representatives of its associated companies, where he stressed that "the regional government is very clear that the Environment has to become the lever of development economic of the Region of Murcia, generator of wealth and growth, of care and sustainability of the natural environment and hallmark of the commitment of all ".
In this way the specialized treatment of the waste coming from that fifth container, destined exclusively to organic matter, can be initiated.
The installation of the fifth container in the streets will be added to the four current containers, used to deposit cardboard and paper, glass, containers and the fraction in the rest.
"We have a clear commitment to recycling, waste separation and reuse. We have a clear road map and that is why we are going to reverse remodeling actions at the Lorca and Ulea plants, which will allow us to include the exclusive treatment of organic matter , something that until today was not done in the Region. Some works that will be completed at the end of 2022 ", explained the counselor.
The meeting also dealt with issues such as the streamlining of administrative procedures, the Law of Integral Protection of the Mar Menor, the development of the Planning of Protected Areas of the Region or the Waste Plan, as well as the main projects included in the Budgets of the Ministry in the field of environment for the year 2020.
