The Ministry of Development and Infrastructure builds a new bridge in Ulea that will improve access to the Ricote Valley.
In addition, the infrastructure will facilitate the communication of Ulea towards the A-30 motorway, which connects the Region of Murcia with Madrid, and will improve the road safety of the regional highway (RM-B14), as it will allow the simultaneous passage of vehicles in both directions .
This new infrastructure has a budget of about 1,184,000 euros, will be 10 meters wide and 44 meters long, for two 3.5 meter lanes with 0.5 meter shoulders.
The execution period is one year.
The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, José Ramón Díez de Revenga, and the mayor of Ulea, Víctor Manuel López, today supervised the works of the new bridge that is built in parallel to the old one, which will be reserved for the exclusive pedestrian crossing and as a viewpoint.
Ten de Revenga stressed that "the Ricote Valley is a jewel for the Region of Murcia, which we have to make more accessible, safe and comfortable for all who live here and also for those who visit it, through the municipality of Ulea" .
"We will take advantage of the old bridge to use it as a tourist pedestrian itinerary for cyclists and hikers, which will link with other pedestrian routes that run through the Ricote Valley," said the regional official, who indicated that the objective is to improve the infrastructure for residents of this area and also that generate benefits for the region.
The action contemplates expanding the radius of the curve of entry to the bridge from Villanueva and an overlay of the rails will be created to allow the crossing of two heavy vehicles.
Containment barriers will be installed on the road and lighting and signaling will be renewed.
